Windows 10 Based VDI with XenDesktop – Key Takeaways from the Field
Wednesday, December 19, 2018
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST
What: Windows 10 as a modern operating system, with its Windows as a service (WaaS) concept, needs another approach for dealing with maintenance and upgrade tasks, as well as why VDI can act as an enabler for Windows 10 deployments in many organizations. René and Sacha have been running virtual desktops on Windows 10 since the early adopter phase, and were able to find out some important “Do’s and Dont’s" you don't want to miss. Join this webinar to find out:
- Why it's really important to be on modern up-to-date hardware;
- Why classic roaming profiles are not suitable anymore for Windows 10, and;
- How UPM, combined with WEM and other 3rd party tools, can help you create a superior experience for end users.
You'll also see the pros and cons of the different deployment approaches with classic server hardware and pooled desktops with PVS, with hyper-converged infrastructure and MCS, as well as classic installed, dedicated virtual desktops.
Presentation will include live Q&A.
Presented by CUGC, this webinar is free for all members.

CTPs Samuel Legrand and Christiaan Brinkhoff looked at how we are designing infrastructure that can face disaster recovery challenges. Disaster Recovery is a key point in centralized environments like Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop (ex. XenApp and XenDesktop). A multitude of laws and regulations specify or imply requirements for business continuity and disaster recovery planning. These requirements vary among industry sectors, affecting the development, focus and execution of business continuity plans. We were used to designing Disaster Recovery, we are now forced to test and plan it as a mandatory process in operational checks. They covered real examples from the field both on-premises and in the Cloud. Click here for the recording.

Alternate UPNs: Solving the Namespace Dilemma– IdAM and Kerberos in a Citrix/o365/AzureAD World Inside and Outside the Windows OS
Held Wednesday, August 2nd, 2018 from 2-3:00PM EDT
CTP Thorsten Rood took a deep dive into Active Directory fundamentals: Moving into an Office 365 / AzureAD world comes with an unexpected side-effect. In many cases, you introduce a new parallel naming scheme for user credentials because you align the UPN account name with the corporate email address space. While this works great in all forms-based authentication scenarios, the internal desktop, RDS and VDI clients that leverage Kerberos capabilities soon cause you trouble once you hit non-Microsoft products. Learn about the iUPN and eUPN difference and how to deal with that little monster that in a non-Windows-world where Citrix ADC / Gateway obviously belongs. This is a deep dive into Active Directory fundamentals in a (Citrix) EUC world. Click here for the recording.
