  • Hi! I'm Owen, this is my first MyCUGC blog post. I work as a virtualization expert for an IT solutions provider in Quebec, Canada. I've been working professionally in the IT industry since 2000, and from 2005 onwards, I have have seen a huge benefit to maintaining a home lab.  The thing about working in the IT industry is, once you've completed the first part of education via a 1, 2, or 4 year college or uni course, the learning doesn't stop (or shouldn't !). However, you  ...

  • It‘s time to say goodbye to your on-premises XenMobile Server (XMS) environment. And now, it‘s time for Cloud transformation to Citrix Endpoint Management (CEM)... The lifetime of XMS on-premises is a time-bomb and the End-of-Life date is currently still not released but could happen any week or month. And then start the last years of official support and Citrix will release only bug fixes and security patches. You can check the End-of-Life date on the Product Matrix: You’ll see new features ...

In Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 1912 release, we introduced the User P ersonalization L ayer (UPL) feature. UPL comes from the Citrix App Layering side of the house and anyone who knows about user layers will be familiar with this functionality which was brought natively into Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops without any additional infrastructure needed. UPL is here to extend the capabilities of non-persistent machine catalogs, as well as to preserve user data and locally-installed applications ...

Many people use Audio in Citrix VAD. It works well, but at times it can be choppy, jittery, and lagging. I wouldn’t say it’s hard, but Citrix is kind of all over the place with the docs. The Tech Zone does a nice job on the material. One of the reasons I started blogging is that I see all kinds of blogs, but I want to do something different. I want to share my settings and get feedback on your experience. Then update my blog with your professional experience. Of course, with your approval and ...

  • In 2015, Theresa Miller, Jo Harder and myself were awarded Citrix Technology Professionals, and it was my first chance to meet other Women in Tech who were as passionate about technology as myself. So when we got the opportunity one year later to work with the Citrix User Group Community and start a mentorship program focused on the Women in Tech, we all jumped at the chance to sponsor other women and help them reach their personal and professional goals. As we are already halfway through mentoring ...

Bay Area CUGC Event Recap - 2019 Q4 What is better to start the New Year for 2020 than a recap of a 2019 CUGC event? Well, in actuality, this article sadly sat in my draft folder due to hectic nature of end of year priorities and some holiday R&R. I am going to stick with the “better late than never” adage as my sole excuse. The Bay Area CUCG team held its Q4 event at the local Citrix Office, here in Santa Clara, CA. In addition, this event included a new co-leader to the team. Yes, it’s yours ...

  • 2019 Year-End Review

    Blog Entry

2019 Year-End Review What an amazing year this was for the Citrix User Group Community, with so many members, meetings and new groups. This year added 4,500 new members, with 11 new groups started across the world! There were a total of 138 regular meetings and 8 XLs (Texas, Florida, Great Lakes, Great Plains, Midwest, Northeast, SoCal, Denmark).  I think the XLs are the best bang for anyone’s buck in the EUC and Citrix space to go to because they bring the best sessions, speakers and vendors\sponsors ...

  • Finding My Voice

    Blog Entry

“If you can’t communicate and talk to other people and get across your ideas, you’re giving up your potential.” – (Warren Buffet)  Those words echoed in my brain. Last year, I was a mentee in the CUGC Women In Technology mentoring program . The experience was instrumental in helping me to gain confidence, amongst other things, and as a result, I felt empowered to speak up.  I recently had the fantastic opportunity to accomplish one of my goals, and I want to share with you how I found my voice ...

Q3 2019 Review of Ireland CUGC This year has totally flown by. Can you believe that the Q3 meeting for CUGC in Ireland has already completed? I usually write a brief overview of the day's antics over on ronnie.ie but this one is going out out on CUGC to see if we can reach some more Citrix community fans and to find out if they like what they see. Hopefully, they can come along and join in the fun. We were back to our usual venue, the Radisson Blu in Dame Lane, Dublin in a slightly larger ...

  • In the past, I’ve spent countless hours trying to translate ADMX/ADML files into corresponding registry settings. So it’s welcome that Citrix WEM Service and WEM v1909 on-premises introduce the ability to migrate GPO settings to WEM. You can read about it here Support for migrating Group Policy Objects (GPOs) from the Citrix docs and here Migrating GPO settings to WEM from James Kindon’s blog. Being able to migrate GPOs to WEM is a step in the right direction, but falls a little short for admins ...
